Long before the three of us met, Ogopa Deejays released a compilation album of Kenyan songs that became a landmark album and inspired many young Kenyans to "do" music. This track features one of the songs on that album, "Move On" by Amani; a trippy, snipped-up filter-house jam which we've mashed together with "Fly" from our first album.
Ogopa's subsequent music took a somewhat less adventurous route since then (sigh), but we still respect them for having started it all, and for inspiring us and many other Kenyans. As an aside, we wish Amani would do more of the trippy electro-stuff she started out with. Maybe one day we'll collaborate with her on that.
We first played this remix at our "Walkers and Workers" gig at the Goethe-Institut (2009). Aaah...the good old days... :)
(FYI: We can't really hear what Amani says in this song, so this is us making the lyrics up. Anyone have the correct lyrics? Give us a shout!)
He's gone and I'm still the same,
I'm going but I'm still the same
He's going but I'm still the same,
I got to get up.
Yeah...Get up, get up, get up... (repeat)
I've got to get up, I've got to move on...
